LOCATION - google maps link
The apartment is located directly opposite the Sud-Ouest Hotel, on Via Monterotta in Sestriere.
You can park in any spot in front of the ski storage glass window and along that side of the building. Alternatively, you can also park further along the street—these spaces are all free and belong to the condominium, so there is no risk of fines. Please refer to the photo for clarity.
Near the parking area, you’ll also find several waste disposal bins for glass, general waste, paper, and plastic—you’re welcome to use them during your stay.
As shown in the photos, the entrance is exactly where you see the ski storage room with the large glass window. You’ll find both a doorbell and the main entrance door there.
Once you enter through the main door, on your right you’ll see the ski storage room. You can store your equipment in locker number 86. Space is a bit limited, but locker number 86 (next to it) is often empty, so if you have multiple pairs of skis, feel free to use that one as well.
Once you enter the building and have stored your skis, you’ll notice on your left the concierge office.
There is both a doorbell and a notice with the phone numbers and WhatsApp contacts of the concierge staff. We recommend taking a photo and saving them, as they are always available to help with anything you might need or any issue that may arise in the apartment.
To reach the apartment, please do not take the first elevator. Instead, go down the spiral staircase, which will lead you to a large and spacious corridor.
Walk along the corridor. About halfway down, on your left, you’ll see a display case with trophies and awards, as well as a smaller elevator.
Take this elevator to reach the apartment. Please select the 3rd floor.
The apartment is number 86 and has a Bear carpet in front of the door.
As soon as you enter the apartment, on the left side of the door, you’ll see a small wooden box with a little handle.
Behind this box, you’ll find the electrical switches. Normally, they should already be on, but if the electricity is not working, the first thing to do is open the box and switch them back on, as shown in the video below.
As you enter, on your left you’ll find two bunk beds and a small storage space built into the wall, hidden behind a curtain, where you can store your belongings.
Directly in front of the beds, there is a large shoe rack where you can place all your ski boots.
If you’ve been skiing, we recommend taking the wine crate placed on top of the shoe rack and putting it outside the door, so you can leave your wet boots there. Don’t worry—no one will mind if you leave your wet gear outside the apartment.
Near the window, you’ll find the Wi-Fi modem. Simply turn it around to see the password.
Alternatively, you can zoom in on the photo below and use the password shown there.
The shutters in the living room, kitchen, and bathroom can be opened and closed using a metal crank handle inserted into the wall.
There is one handle but two different slots. The slot on the left controls the large living room shutter, while the slot on the right controls the kitchen and bathroom shutters.
Since the handle is not perfectly straight, please follow the instructions shown in the video below to rotate it properly without marking the wall.
It’s very important not to raise the shutters all the way up, as they may get stuck. However, you can safely lower them all the way down.
Once you’ve closed the living room shutters, remove the handle, insert it into the other slot, and then close the kitchen and bathroom shutters, as shown in the video below.
Please be gentle and avoid moving too quickly or raising them too high when using the shutters, as they are old and can easily jam. If that happens, you’ll need to contact the concierge to have them unlocked.
In the bathroom, between the bidet and the toilet, you’ll find another small wooden panel.
If you open it, you’ll see the main water control for the apartment. Turning it to the right will shut off the water, while turning it to the left will turn the water back on.
This controls the water supply for both the sink and the shower.
Hot water is supplied by the boiler. As shown in the photo below, the boiler is active and working when the orange light is on.
If you arrive and the orange light is not on, first make sure the water is turned on, then open the hot water tap and let it run for a couple of minutes until the orange light turns on.
Once the orange light is on, the boiler starts heating the water. If the tank is already full of hot water, it will take about a minute to get hot water. If the water is cold, it may take around 90–120 minutes to heat up.
For this reason, we recommend turning on the hot water as soon as you arrive if you’re planning to take a shower, as mountain water is particularly cold.
Please note: the hot water can get very hot (up to around 50°C / 122°F), so be careful not to burn yourself. Avoid turning the temperature too high, and be especially careful in the shower not to touch the metal fixtures where hot water flows, as they can become extremely
The shower drain is covered by a small black tile.
If you step on it while showering, the drain may close, which can cause the water to overflow from the shower.
To avoid this, we recommend simply removing the black tile while you shower. This allows the water to drain quickly and helps prevent any clogging.
In the apartment, you’ll find a kitchen with an induction cooktop and an extractor fan with a light above it.
All lights are operated by switches, and there are plenty of electrical outlets throughout the apartment.
The TV is connected to the internet, so you can log in to your own Netflix, Amazon Prime, or other streaming accounts. Please remember to log out before you leave, so no one else can access your accounts.
There is also a microwave. The only power outlet for it is in the kitchen, so when you want to use it, we recommend placing it on top of the induction unit—just be careful not to place it down too forcefully.
To turn on the radiators, simply rotate the valve from 0 up to 4 or 5, depending on how warm you’d like the room to be.
To check if they are working, touch the pipe near the valve—it should start warming up quite quickly.
Since the radiators are a bit old, sometimes turning the valve may not be enough to activate them. In that case, you can unscrew the knob: underneath, you’ll find a small metal pin. Using pliers (you can find them in the cutlery drawer), gently move the pin back and forth, then reattach the knob. The radiator should start working.
As this is a slightly delicate operation, if you’re not comfortable doing it, please feel free to contact the concierge—they’ll be happy to assist you.
You can also refer to the video below to see exactly how it’s done.
We hope you have a wonderful stay! The apartment is conveniently located close to everything—Sestriere is very small, and you can easily walk anywhere.
If you don’t feel like walking to the slopes in your ski boots, you can leave your skis and boots at one of the storage facilities near the slopes. They charge a small fee, and you can comfortably walk there in regular shoes, enjoy a coffee, and get ready on the spot. We usually just walk directly from the apartment in our ski boots.
Right in front of the apartment, there is also a free shuttle stop that takes you to the slopes. It runs every 15 minutes. That said, in our opinion, it’s not really necessary, as it’s all downhill and you can reach the slopes in about 7 minutes on foot.
We wish you a fantastic stay in our Bear Suite!
In the main square of Sestriere, you’ll also find an office called Host Domus, the agency that manages our apartment. If you have specific questions, you’re welcome to visit them during opening hours.
At the end of your stay, we usually ask you to leave the keys with the concierge. If the concierge is not available, please send us a message on WhatsApp—we will contact them, and you can leave the keys in the mailbox. They will collect them afterward.
Below you’ll find the WhatsApp numbers for me (Paulina), my husband Davide, and the two concierges. Everyone is available on WhatsApp, so feel free to message or call any of us if you need assistance.
